Inside a 340% Organic Traffic Turnaround: The Exact Content Roadmap We Used

Month-by-month breakdown of the content clusters, internal linking rebuild, and technical fixes behind a six-month SEO turnaround for a B2B SaaS client — including what didn't work in month one.

Inside a 340% Organic Traffic Turnaround: The Exact Content Roadmap We Used

A mid-size B2B SaaS client came to us with a familiar problem: organic traffic had plateaued for eighteen months despite a steady publishing cadence. Six months later, organic sessions were up 340% and, more importantly, inbound demo requests had followed. Here is the month-by-month roadmap, including the part of month one that didn't work.

Month 1: The audit, and the false start

We initially assumed the fix was "more content" and briefed five new articles in week one. By week three, none had moved rankings — because the real problem wasn't content volume, it was that three existing pages were cannibalizing each other for the client's highest-value keyword cluster. We paused new content and pivoted to consolidation.

Month 2: Consolidation and technical cleanup

Three competing pages became one comprehensive page with proper canonicalization. We also fixed a crawl budget issue caused by a faceted navigation system generating thousands of near-duplicate URLs.

Month 3: Internal link architecture rebuild

The consolidated page had almost no internal links pointing to it. We rebuilt the site's internal linking structure around a hub-and-spoke model, with the new pillar page as the hub for eleven supporting articles.

Month 4: Targeted content gap filling

Only now did we brief new content — six articles, each targeting a specific gap identified through competitor analysis rather than volume-based keyword lists.

Month 5: Featured snippet optimization

We restructured answer-format content (definitions, comparison tables, numbered steps) on the eight highest-traffic pages specifically to compete for featured snippets, winning four within three weeks.

Month 6: Results consolidate

The lesson that stuck with our team: the fastest path to growth was subtraction and structure, not more content. We only added new pages after the existing ones were positioned to support them.
