GEO Audit Template (Free): Score Your AI Visibility in 30 Minutes

A copy-paste scorecard with 25 checks across content, schema, entity signals and AI-crawler access — score your site 0–100 and know exactly which fixes move AI citations first.

GEO Audit Template (Free): Score Your AI Visibility in 30 Minutes

Quick answer: Score your site against the 25 checks below (4 points each, 100 total). Above 80: you are AI-visible and should focus on content depth. 50–80: fix the failed checks in the order listed. Below 50: your site is largely invisible to AI search — start with the Access and Structure sections today.

How to run this audit (30 minutes)

Open your homepage, your top service page and your best blog post. Test each check against all three; a check passes only if all three pages pass. You need: your site, Schema.org's validator, and your robots.txt in a browser tab.

Section A — Access (5 checks, 20 points)

  1. robots.txt does not block GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended.
  2. Page content is present in the raw HTML source (View Source, search for a sentence — no JS rendering required).
  3. llms.txt exists at /llms.txt with your key facts and page map.
  4. Pages load in under ~1.5s server-response — slow sites get shallow crawls.
  5. No login walls, interstitials or aggressive bot challenges in front of core content.

Section B — Structure (7 checks, 28 points)

  1. First 60 words of each page directly answer its target query.
  2. H2s are phrased as questions users actually ask.
  3. Every page has a 5+ question FAQ block.
  4. Statistics are linked to named sources.
  5. Comparisons use tables, not prose.
  6. Paragraphs are ≤4 sentences, one idea each.
  7. Visible, honest publish/updated dates.

Section C — Schema (6 checks, 24 points)

  1. Organization schema with legalName and registration identifiers.
  2. Article schema with a named Person author on every post.
  3. FAQPage schema wherever FAQ blocks appear.
  4. Service schema on service pages.
  5. BreadcrumbList site-wide.
  6. All of it validates clean in Schema.org's validator.

Section D — Entity & trust (7 checks, 28 points)

  1. Named authors with author pages (not "admin" or "team").
  2. About page states legal name, registration and full address.
  3. Identical entity data on Google Business Profile and LinkedIn.
  4. At least 3 third-party directory/review listings with matching details.
  5. Case studies or proof pages with concrete numbers.
  6. A recognizable topic cluster (hub + 5 or more supporting pieces on your money topic).
  7. Zero fabricated content — no invented testimonials, stats or team members anywhere.

Reading your score

The order of sections is the order of dependency: access failures make everything else moot; structure decides whether you can be quoted; schema and entity decide whether you are trusted enough to quote. Most sites we audit score 40–60 on first pass, and the same ~8 checks fail almost every time (2, 6, 8, 13, 14, 19, 20, 24).

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if AI engines already cite me?

Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google (AI Overviews on) your five most valuable customer questions and note whether your brand appears. Then check Search Console's generative-AI performance reports for impression data inside AI features.

How often should I re-run this?

Quarterly, plus after any redesign or CMS migration — both routinely break schema and server rendering without anyone noticing.
